Shockwave Therapy

What is Shockwave Therapy?

Radial (extracorporeal) shockwave therapy is a method for the treatment of tendon, ligament, muscle and other soft tissue problems.

Our state of the art, German manufactured, device generates a mechanical pressure (shock) wave, which is transferred to the specific part of the body by an applicator head.

The mechanical energy is then absorbed by the target tissue and triggers reactions that have a proven positive influence on healing and pain relief in a wide range of orthopedic conditions.

Conditions that can benefit from treatment with Shockwave include (but not limited to):

Shockwave therapy is indicated in the NICE guidance for the treatment of plantar fascitis and achilles tendonitis.

While Shockwave is proven to be an effective treatment modality for specific types of conditions, it is rarely a stand alone solution. As part of effectively helping our patients overcome their problems, we focus on addressing all the factors that lead to symptoms.

This starts with a thorough assessment which informs a detailed treatment pathway consisting of the right treatment intervention delivered at the right time.
