Diagnostic Ultrasound
Real-time ultrasound scans and bio-feedback
We offer our patients real-time ultrasound scans so they can see what is happening with their muscles, joints and ligaments as it happens.
The difference this makes is astonishing. You’ve probably seen ultrasound images of a baby moving in the womb. As you watch those real-time pictures, you can’t help but understand and relate to what you are seeing. You can’t give people that experience by pointing a machine at them and posting them a flat, still picture a week later.
In physiotherapy, you get the same immediacy and understanding when you use real-time ultrasound to help someone see what is happening under their skin and showing them how they can work on the problem.
So, having an Ultrasound Scanner means our patients can:
- See exactly which of the abdominal muscles they are contracting and therefore specifically isolate the core stabilising muscles that help prevent back pain.
- See where there are soft tissue (ligament, muscle and tendon) injuries and see how they are progressing over the treatment programme.
- See how their joints move and where there may be problems.
