I love being able to help women with common problems understand that they are not alone (and can be treated!)
Michaela qualified as a physiotherapist in South Africa in 2001 and completed a Postgraduate Certificate in ‘Continence for Physiotherapists’ from the University of Bradford, UK in 2009. She worked in a busy London obstetric and gynaecology hospital for six years where she saw a variety of women’s health conditions.
Her main interest lies in pelvic health - such as urinary incontinence, bowel problems and pelvic pain - but she is also experienced in supporting pregnant women through pregnancy-related aches and pains. She would like every women to receive optimal care postnatally as this can set women up to have a fantastic recovery and avoid long-term bladder / bowel problems.
Michaela loves keeping active - whether cycling, walking, rowing or weight training and has occasionally done a race (a walking marathon, 180km team road race and CrossFit competition) although prefers the social aspect far more!
“My favourite part of Women’s Health Physio? Providing a safe space for women to discuss symptoms and aspects of their daily life that are potentially embarrassing. It’s a privilege to help every one of them with information, education and treatment.”
